At most congested crossroads of Udaipur, viz. Shastri Circle, Delhi Gate, Sukhadia Circle, Fatehpura circle, Sevashram, Fatehsagar, Durga Nursery road, etc. the police are stopping traffic rule violators and either taking them to the nearest police station or taking challan fines on location
Having witnessed multiple criminal activities and accidents where vehicles are being driven in violation of driving and traffic rules, the police administration has cracked down on such riders and drivers. Over the last 5 months, over 15 incidents of chain snatching have been reported. The last incident of chain snatching which was captured on CCTV, showed masked riders on a number less vehicle. This drove the police into an exercise of this nature.
At most congested crossroads of Udaipur, viz. Shastri Circle, Delhi Gate, Sukhadia Circle, Fatehpura circle, Sevashram, Fatehsagar, Durga Nursery road, etc. the police are stopping traffic rule violators and either taking them to the nearest police station or taking challan fines on location.
Traffic violations include riding without a helmet, more than a pillion on a two wheeler, number plate issues, darkened wind screen and car screens, etc. Police are also stopping riders who are riding with their faces covered and are advising them not to repeat the offence.
Vehicles with no number plates were stopped, their registration papers checked and the riders fined in the absence of required documents. Some apprehended were also taken to the nearest police station/chowki for interrogation.
Bhupalpura SHO CHandmal said that this activity will continue for a few days to ensure that things fall under control somewhat and those moving carelessly on vehicles take heed of rules and follow them after this shakedown. He said that a few suspects be rounded up during this exercise, and the possibility on moving down on the criminals is a good possibility.
