Dec 31, 2025 – A car with 150 kg of illegal ammonium nitrate, around 200 explosive cartridges and six bundles of safety fuse wire were seized from a car on the Tonk-Jaipur highway on Wednesday (December 31), triggering a major security alert on New Year’s Eve. The ammonium nitrate had been concealed in bags of urea fertilizer.

Two men in the car, identified as Surendra Mochi and Surendra Patwa, have been detained for questioning, according to the police.

According to reports, the police had been tipped off about the explosives being transported as a result of which they put up a blockade and intercepted the suspected Maruti Ciaz which was moving from Bundi to Tonk.

"A major operation was conducted in which explosives were seized from a vehicle. Two accused have been arrested and the investigation is being carried out. We are probing all aspects in the case," DSP Mrityunjay Mishra was quoted as saying.

Earlier in the day, around 2900 kg of explosives, including ammonium nitrate, were found in Faridabad, just 50 km from Delhi. Possible connection between the two discoveries is being investigated as security agencies remain on high alert on the eve of the New Year.
