More than half a Dozen positions including that of a Chief Executive Officer are lying vacant, even months after Udaipur being awarded the Corporation status.

According to Himmat Singh Barath, Commissioner, UMC, the required post generated soon after up-grading to Corporation from Council. The required recruitment is to be made by the State Government, which has not been fulfilled till now.

Himmat Singh further informed that after Municipal Council was promoted to Corporation, the physical boundaries of the city areas were also revised to include larger areas and under these circumstances the department needs more officials.

At present Municipal Corporation is having 8 posts waiting for recruitment, which includes CEO, Two Revenue Officer, Two Accounts Officers and Three others.

In the absence of officials, the Corporation is facing problems while tackling routine jobs and other development projects important for the City and nearby areas.

“I have forwarded an application to the State Government requesting a consideration over immediate posting on vacant posts, which has also been discussed with higher authorities at Jaipur”, said Rajni Dangi, Mayor, Udaipur Municipal Corporation.
