In a recent decision taken over City Bus service, UMC has rejected applicant on the phrase of providing parking space for buses. Outcome of the decision is that tenders will be announced again, which will include all the clauses to start operations.
According to Dhanpal Swami, President, Transport Committee, UMC, the applicant has demanded a space for parking buses on concession rates. The demand was however declined in the meeting organised jointly with the contractor.
The tender would be re-opened on 8th October for the applicants. The one who agrees on all the clauses would be given charge to operate City Buses, added Dhanpal Swami.
According to the sources, UMC does not have appropriate land which can be used for parking of these buses, although Corporation has provided wide space at Savina (Sector-9) to park buses to previous contractor. Previously used buses are still parked on that very land, added sources.
