City Bus operators handed a memorandum to district collector today to exclude public transport vehicles from election duty in future. They also demanded various considerations for smooth operations of bus services and convenience of passengers.

City Bus operators handed a memorandum to district collector today to exclude public transport vehicles from election duty in future. They also demanded various considerations for smooth operations of bus services and convenience of passengers.

According to Yogesh Rawal, Proprietor, Rawal and Sons, “These city buses were engaged in election duty from 14th to 17th April, due to which regular travelers had to face problem.” The operators also demanded an appropriate action against local auto rickshaws operating without permission across city.

Yogesh further added that these city buses are operating on two routes, one among them is from Rampura Circle to Dabok Circle which has a stretch of 26 km. It should be extended till Singhania University, so that passengers can avoid facing private bus operators who charge them 5 times more the cost of public transport.

In the memorandum, the operators emphasized that existing rates of public transport must be revised with 25% additions. Other demands included establishing a permanent counter at Delhi Gate so that one can avail monthly passes. Moreover, UMC (Udaipur Municipal Corporation) must also make arrangements for bus stops and waiting area for passengers.
