District Collector discusses operating time limit for boats and conservation of lakes in meeting with Municipal Commissioner Ram Prakash and other officials
Udaipur, February 7, 2025 - A meeting of the District Lake Conservation and Development Committee was held yesterday under the chairmanship of District Collector Namit Mehta.
Members present discussed the idea of operating electric or solar-powered boats on Fateh Sagar and Pichola lakes for transporting passengers to hotels. Collector Mehta directed the Municipal Commissioner and Committee Member secretary Ram Prakash to discuss this with the relevant stakeholders and update the committee accordingly.
On the issue of the operating time limit for boats, the Collector said a decision would be taken only after scrutiny of all circulars and orders.
The meeting deliberated on presenting a report of the income generated from Fateh Sagar and Pichola lakes and discussed lake conservation work. Discussion was also held on the measures proposed by the Water Resources Department for conservation of Jaisamand Lake.
Municipal Commissioner spoke about the lakes notified under the Rajasthan Lake Development Authority to which Collector Mehta said decisions on the matter would be taken after a detailed study of the relevant circulars.
The meeting was attended by UDA Secretary Hemendra Nagar, Chief Engineer of the Water Resources Department Manoj Jain, Deputy Director of Tourism Shikha Saxena, Payal Pancholi from the Pollution Control Board, Additional Director of Fisheries Dr Deepika Paliwal, Executive Engineer of the Water Resources Department Salumber Prateek Chaudhary, Executive Engineer (Mechanical) of the Municipal Corporation Lakhanlal Bairwa and others.
