Concerned Citizens Meet Div Commissioner over Court's Order on Demolition

Several members’ team including local residents of the areas near lakes held a meeting with top administrative officials of Udaipur and raised their concern over the recent order by Rajasthan High Court to demolish over 40 constructions including a 5 star hotel at Udaisagar that is constructed in and around lake areas.

Several members’ team including local residents of the areas near lakes held a meeting with top administrative officials of Udaipur and raised their concern over the recent order by Rajasthan High Court to demolish over 40 constructions including a 5 star hotel at Udaisagar that is constructed in and around lake areas.

Divisional Commissioner, Subodh Kumar Sharma and newly appointed District Collector, Vikas Bhale addressed the meeting and requested the manic members to be at ease as the above mentioned Order of Court is yet to be received by Udaipur Administration.

However, local residents group led by Dalpat Surana, a politician, cuffed series of allegations against Lake Conservation Committee and local administration for their alleged partiality regarding the issue.

Surana with other members told Div Commissioner that Lake Conservation Committee is intentionally targeting poor and why those house situated in lake catchment areas are being charged by authority for new sewerage lines. Locals also alleged government approved construction of luxury hotels around lake.

According to sources, on 28 Sept, Rajasthan High Court ordered to demolish over 40 constructions in and around lake areas after a petition was filed in 2010 by local citizen Rajendra Razdan.

According to local media, Razdan went to police station last night after being allegedly forced to sign an affidavit of withdrawing the petition back.

Razdan is closely associated with Lake Conservation Committee and involved in various activities to save the lakes of Udaipur from illegal encroachment and pollution.

The meeting was held today at RNT College’s seminar hall in presence of all top officials including Divisional Commissioner and District Collector.
