Covid guidelines extended for States and UTs till August 31

The Ministry of Home Affairs has urged states to take strict action in districts where positivity rate is high.

The Union Home Secretary in his letter to states said that there is no room for complacency in observing covid-19 protocol. 

The above measure has been taken after reviewing the possibility of 3rd covid wave.

The Ministry of Home Affairs after reviewing the possibility of 3rd wave extended the covid guidelines for all states and UTs until August 31. The ministry has urged the states to take strict action in districts with high positivity rate.

Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla in his letter to the states and UTs said that there is no room for complacency in observing the protocol even though the nation is witnessing a decline in covid cases.

“With the decline in the number of active cases, states and UTs are reopening activities in a gradual manner. While the decline in the number of cases is a matter of satisfaction, it may be noted that the absolute case numbers are still significantly high. Therefore, there no room for complacency and the process of relaxing restrictions should be carefully calibrated,” said Ajay Bhalla.

The Union Health Ministry has flagged concern over districts with more than 10 percent positivity rate. Some countries have reported a rise in the covid cases, Highlighting this surge, the officials said that India has to remain alert despite the decline in average daily new cases.
