To prevent the coronavirus from spreading, the control room in Collectorate has been converted to "Covid War Room". The main objective of this covid war room is to provide immediate assistance to the needy and to circulate the necessary information immediately.
Staff has been increased in the war room to deal with the emergency situation instantly. 3 district level officers have been appointed to take note of and deal with the people migrating to their home towns. The officers have been equipped with the required powers under Disaster Management Act to deal with the situations.
4 more numbers have been added to the helpline series. This means that the covid war room will now have 6 helpline numbers. This step was taken as 2 numbers were not enough and people were complaining of telephone lines being busy most of the time. The Covid War Room will be active 24x7 and the staff will work on roaster basis.
Apart from this, Collector Anandi has also issued directives for the hotels and restaurants to keep food packets ready. She said that all hotels and restaurants must have their cooks ready all the time so that food can be supplied within 4 hours of the orders during emergency. The above orders have been issued under Disaster Management Act 2005 Sections 24, 30, 31, 32, 34, 51 and 65.
It was also specified that people who are not following home quarantine will be dealt with very strictly. Action will be taken against them under Section 34 of Disaster Manager Act.
