Udaipur, Nov 14, 2025 - In a drive against rash and negligent transportation of schoolchildren, two drivers were taken into custody on Thursday, November 13, at the Fatehpura circle. In one case, a driver was taking an auto rickshaw full of schoolchildren but he did not have a licence. In the second case, another person was held for transporting schoolchildren under the influence of alcohol.

Udaipur Police has launched a major campaign in the city to monitor schoolchildren transport vehicles. Since early Thursday, intensive checking of school transport vehicles began across the city. Under the campaign, police monitored outside several major schools, inspected parked vehicles and also recorded the entire process on video. Around 119 school transport vehicles were inspected, challans for nine vehicles were issued and two vehicles were seized.

The authorities have said no negligence will be tolerated when it comes to children’s safety and that strict action will be taken against those who fail to meet safety standards — including challans (penalties) and even suspension of licences.
