State level transport management committee had a meeting with District Collector at the Collectorate on Thursday. The issues of increasing pot holes at the worn out roads was raised in the meeting. It may be noted that the pot holes have become a nuisance and have been the reason behind many accidents recently.

District Collector Anandi issued directives to fill up the pot holes as early as possible during the monsoons. She also added that post the monsoon season, the roads must be mended within 15 days. All departments have been directed to create a list of all the damaged roads and begin with the tender process for the repair and maintenance of the roads with immediate effect. She also warned all to use good quality products for the roads.

The Collector also issued directives to take action against commercial activities happening in premises meant for parking. Such illegal commercial premises must be closed down within a week and parking areas must be developed as per rules. If in case anyone does not follow the rules, then the building must be seized. For the lifting of vehicles in no-parking zones, cranes must be provided to the traffic personnel.  A DPR committee is also to be made to deal with the traffic issues. The committee will have representatives from UIT, Municipal Corporation, Transport Department, public representatives non-government organisations. After the construction of this committee, a DPR will be created based on the traffic master plan. Main points for the auto stoppage and bus stops will also be decided.
