District Level Meeting held at Zila Parishad
A Meeting of District Vigilance and Monitoring Committee was held at Zila Parishad today. Various important issues were raised related to road network, electricity supply, cleanliness in villages and postal services. The meeting started at 11am and continued till late afternoon.

District Collector Vikas Bhale, District Chief Madhu Mehta and representatives of all government departments, Block Development Officers of all Villages and local public representatives participated in the meeting. MP Raghuveer Singh Meena chaired the meeting.
Brainstorming exercise was carried out for development of road network in nearby rural areas of Udaipur like Jaisamand, Parsad, Jhadol etc. The areas are surrounded by forests and often land related issues act as a roadblock for the road development procedure. Both, Forest department and PWD were instructed to solve the issues and to remove the obstacles in road construction.
Local representatives presented their problems related to infrastructure, irrigation, electricity supply in many remote areas of Gram Panchayat of Udaipur District where basic facilities are still out of reach.
Electricity Department is shortly going to provide new connection to thousands of houses in the rural areas. The department was however concerned about their internal problems of staff shortage. A number of issues relating to electricity poles being dug up in road overlooking safety measures and regulation which might cause accidents were also discussed.
In an important update, Electricity Department informed that they have already started removing high tension electricity wires passing above schools. Only 6 schools are remaining where high tension lines are still passing through. Department has asked for one more month to remove these lines.
Electricity Department informed about their control number 1912 for any problem relating to department.
With regards to the Postal Department, District Collector ordered that all the accounts of pensioners need to be taken online. There are approximately 2 Lac accounts.
The decision was taken after a series of complaints were received from pensioners who complained of not receiving money-orders. The postal department had expressed their helplessness due to mistakes in address.
Vedanta backed project for constructing 10,000 toilets in villages was also discussed in the meeting. It was informed that a similar project is going to start at Jaisamand Lake, to keep the tourist spot clean.
