Div Commissioner Holds Meeting over NLCP

In a City level meeting held today morning at the Divisional Commissioner’s office, Subodh Agrawal, Divisional Commissioner emphasized of proper sewerage systems to put a check on ever increasing water pollution in Udaipur; he also ordered respective departments to come up with a proposal regarding the issue.

In a City level meeting held today morning at the Divisional Commissioner’s office, Subodh Agrawal, Divisional Commissioner emphasized of proper sewerage systems to put a check on ever increasing water pollution in Udaipur; he also ordered respective departments to come up with a proposal regarding the issue.

Along with Subodh Agrawal, District Collector Vikas Bhale also stated that improper sewerage disposal is one of major hindrance in beautification projects of the city; both officials were of the opinion that a stricter approach must be taken by the authority.

Of the various suggestions received over the sewerage issue, Dr. R. P. Sharma, Secretary of Urban Improvement Trust (UIT) proposed that like other cities, disposal of sewerage should be done in concurrence with the Jawahar Lal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JLNNURM).

R. P. Sharma gave a brief of numerous development works under NLCP (National Lake Conservation Plan) and informed that for providing proper and adequate boating space in lakes a floating platform needs to be installed at Lake Fatehsagar too, while the project is in progress in Lake Pichola.

Officials of UMC and UIT were ordered to increase the height of walls of Nehru Park and to complete the Ring Road project around Lake Pichola. Subodh Agrawal also ordered to complete all the approved projects before applying for new ones.

Sources say that till now around Rs. 63 cr. has been spent on NLCP which also includes Rs. 15 cr. donated by Hindustan Zinc for sewerage, whereas an additional requirement of Rs. 8 cr. has been is demanded for completion of project NLCP.

In continuation of the issue, along with Mayor Rajni Dangi other officials of UMC informed that tender notice for maintenance of De-weeding machine failed on technical grounds, new tender notice will be announced on 25th April; at which Subodh Agrawal instructed of evaluating all expert parameters before finalizing the work order.

Divisional Commissioner also instructed to organise a committee for developing proposed Public Aquarium Gallery at Fatehsagar; on the other hand the charge of planting trees at Rani Road was passed on to the Forest Department, appropriate land for the same will be selected by the Forest Department itself.

In the closing session of the meeting, discussion was held for the under construction Akroda Dam which will ensure sufficient water level in all the lakes of the city, Padam Vora, Executive Engineer (Irrigation) informed that the department has received only one applicant after the announcement of first tender, hence following the norms the construction tender has to be re-announced.
