Divisional Commissioner holds meeting for Special Cleanliness Campaign

The divisional commissioner Bhawani Singh Detha took a meeting on Tuesday in context to the special cleanliness campaign that is going to commence in the coming days in Udaipur.
For the cleanliness of all ODF, public toilets and waste management system etc. a special campaign will be carried out from 9th to 27th March. Under this campaign public toilets will be constructed at all levels. He stated that presently, there is a need of around 7,48,363 toilets in the entire Rajasthan.
He advised all officers to mark public places for the development of toilets. Also, for waste disposal, arrangement for vehicles has to be made along with supervision of daily waste disposal in all areas. A complete ban on plastics was also in the agenda.
For the awareness purposes, folk plays, street plays and puppetry etc. will be integrated. Educational institutes, government offices, religious institutions and NGOs will collaborate to spread awareness of plastic ban and cleanliness. According to him, an ambassador will be appointed in each ward who would advise people about sanitation and health.
For this campaign, every year, government will sanction Rs. 6 Lac. For the success of the campaign, many NGOs, corporators, MPs, representatives, civil societies and others will unite to bring a change in the society.
Besides these, a special mention was made for the street vendors for whom a vending zone will be developed so that their businesses aren’t hampered. Work will be done to repair leaked water pipelines and capture stray animals on the street and provide them shelter.
In the meet, mayor Chandra Singh Kothari, additional commissioner Jitendra Upadhyay, collector Ashutosh A.T Pednekar, Municipal commissioners from Dungarpur, Banswara, Chittorgarh, Rajsamand and Pratapgarh, Nagar Nigam commissioner Himmat Singh Barhath, UIT secretary Ramniwas Mehta and officers from PHED, health and medicine, education etc. were present.
