A donkey drive at the Collector’s office took everybody’s attention on Monday. The reason behind this donkey drive was non-availability of space for pouring in embankment stuff(भराव).
Women from the Od(ओड़) community reached the Collector’s office on Monday along with their donkeys loaded with stuff. They were agitated by the fact that there was no space made available to pour in the embankment stuff. These women also met with former councillor Rajesh Singhvi. Along with Singhvi, they presented a memo to ADM (Administration) CR Devasi.
The Od community is agitated that administration and concerned departments have not yet authorised any space where the bharaav can be poured in. This is causing trouble to the families in their community as they have to move from one place to the other in search of space. The Od community has to go round with the stuff loaded on their donkeys’ back. This work is basically their source of income which has become a painful task for them.
The women also drew ADM’s attention to the fact that there are a number of areas in the city where no other means of transport can enter to gather the embankment stuff. In such cases, the work is possible only through donkeys. They also said that their community does the job of piling up the stuff on the donkeys but they do not get a place to vacate the load. The women demanded quick action on this issue.
