E-challan for breaking traffic rules

Anyone breaking traffic rules will be served an E-challan by the Traffic department. The process of E-challan began from Monday after testing 40 machines for 15 days. 10 of these machines will be with traffic branch and 30 with police stations. Cameras have also been provided to the police so that they can click pictures of people who try to escape after breaking traffic rules. A challan will be sent to their registered addresses. The process of serving E-challan will also save time as it is a quick process as compared to the manual entry in registers.

Details of the people not paying the challan amount will be sent to the court. Police will also click pictures of the people breaking rules under motor vehicle act. The machines are connected with the online data of RTO department. This data has complete details of the license holder and the owner of the vehicle. The machine will also assist police in finding details of the rules broken and action will taken based on the rule broken. Police can now easily scroll to the respective option under the motor vehicle act and the challan will be issued as per the amount of fine indicated in the challan machine.
