Election Commission Reviews Preparation of Polling Day

Chief Election Officer Ashok Kumar Jain in his visit to Udaipur today reviewed preparation for upcoming election, the polling date of which is 1st of December in Rajasthan. The review was taken in a meeting with all district authorities and officials of Police Department, held at office of Divisional Commissioner.

Chief Election Officer Ashok Kumar Jain in his visit to Udaipur today reviewed preparation for upcoming election, the polling date of which is 1st of December in Rajasthan. The review was taken in a meeting with all district authorities and officials of Police Department, held at office of Divisional Commissioner.

Soon after the meeting Ashok Kumar Jain interacted with local media, where he discussed various points regarding voter awareness and security including law and order. The antisocial elements have been bent down already; strict action would be taken against such individuals who create nuisance during election.

Jain while briefing with local media informed all necessary measures have been deployed by administration for upcoming election. Talking about preparation he added that 509 groups of para military forces have been deployed in the state, while the same was 192 groups in last election of 2004.

Instructions for sealing Inter-State borders have been passed to apply check on any unlawful activities. Special teams for observing over sensitive areas, where liquor is exchanged for votes, have been instructed to raid such areas and confiscate all such products. Emphasis would be on cash flow during campaign. Spending limit is decided to be Rs.16 lac, candidate spending above the limit would be disqualified after investigation.

Jain in his briefing also added, “Special arrangements have been made for convenience of all potential voters. The ones who cannot walk would be allowed with wheel chair in polling booth, whereas physically challenged voters (without arms) will be allowed to take individual above 18 years for voting.”
