Electricity supply cut off-Bill overdue

Deendayal Upadhyay Park’s electricity supply has been cut off since the bill is lying unpaid for the last three months.

Power supply for Deendayal Upadhyay park at Doodhtalai, Udaipur has been cut off since UIT hasn’t paid electricity bill for the past three months. Due to dispute among contractors and UIT, electricity bill wasn’t paid in the last three months as a result supply was cut off and the park is facing dark hours in the evening time.

The park is lying unvisited by tourists because of darkness. Without electricity, it is almost impossible for the tourists to frequent this area. Musical fountain which is the main attraction of the park is shut down because there is no power supply. The outstanding amount of the electricity bill is 1 lakh 70 thousand which is lying unpaid by UIT. Despite a 15 day notice sent by AEN office, UIT did not pay heed to the bill resulting in power supply being cut off on Wednesday. It has been three days since power cut but UIT has not yet paid the bill.

Dispute between UIT and contractors was regarding park tickets. Ticket rates of park had caused an argumentative situation between the two parties which led to this situation. UIT XEN Mukesh Jani said that some misunderstanding has caused the delay in paying the bill which will be paid at the earliest now.

The park is one of the major centres of attraction for the tourists as well as locals. People come here for the city’s beautiful view from the top. Even sunset view from park top is breathtaking. The park is also a peaceful area where old and aged like to spend time in the evenings. Post dinner walks with families and friends’ get togethers are a common sight in the park during evenings. If the bill is not paid at the earliest, all activity might drop to a great extent also resulting in a downfall in the popularity of this place as a tourist spot. Income through tickets is most certain to suffer.
