Going ahead with the anti-encroachment drive, encroachments from Town Hall to Delhi Gate were cleared on Wednesday.

Municipal Corporation is active again with its anti-encroachment policy. On Wednesday, encroachments on footpaths from the route between Town Hall and Delhi Gate were removed. Vegetable and fruit vendors who occupied spaces on footpaths were cleared from these areas.

Anti-encroachment branch of the municipal corporation had the generator removed which was kept by Indian Overseas Bank on the footpath right outside the bank. Hoardings and banners covering the road were also removed. Electronic items kept outside the showrooms by the shop owners were also removed and the shop owners were warned not to keep their stuff on the footpaths.

Vegetable vendors and fruit vendors and other thela valas were also asked to move away from the Tanga stand at Delhi Gate. Most of the road in this area is occupied by small routine stuff vendors which creates hindrance in regular traffic. The area around Delhi Gate has become too congested with vendors placing their thelas and items on the road.

Revenue Inspector Nitesh Bhatnagar and Mohit Agnihotri carried out the anti-encroachment drive on Wednesday. They said that this will continue till all encroachments are cleared. Bhatnagar said that by 8th November Corporation will clear all the encroachments from various parts of the city. The anti-encroachment drive will be carried out in areas between Town Hall to Delhi Gate, Shastri Circle to Lake City Mall, Udiapole to Surajpole, Court Circle to Sukhadia Circle, Fatehpura and Chungi Naka to Goverdhan Vilas.
