Following Modi footsteps, RTO now does a crackdown on defaulters

Road Transport Office (RTO) Udaipur has started a crackdown against defaulters who have not deposited their road tax for past few years. The stringent measures that RTO has started taking include the following:

  • A special wing has been formed to curb tax evasion under the direction of Prabhulal Bamaniya, ARTO, Udaipur
  • 221 tax defaulting vehicles have been auctioned so far
  • 28 vehicles seized after surveying financiers
  • 37 JCBs identified in district with tax evasion; Rs 60 lakh recovered
  • 7 video coach buses with pending tax seized. 2 of these buses had over 3 lakh tax pending against them
  • 2298 taxis identified that had not paid LST. Rs 1.5 Crore already recovered from 127 vehicle owners
  • land holding of defaulters being identified via apnakhata.com. Holding details of defaulters also being sought from UIT

Bold steps are being taken by RTO to recover the tax dues. It is a much warranted effort and will provide much needed support to the state exchequers.
