Government Initiative: Tourists to tour in city on Cycles

The Swayat Shasan Vibhag, Rajasthan has proposed to start 'Tourism By Cycle' in which tourists will be able to tour the city on cycles. The department has selected 10 heritage cities for the project, Udaipur being one of them.

The Swayat Shasan Vibhag, Rajasthan has proposed to start ‘Tourism By Cycle’ in which tourists will be able to tour the city on cycles. The department has selected 10 heritage cities for the project, Udaipur being one of them.

Under this project, the interested tourists can book their cycles online from anywhere. The rent will be either on hourly or day basis.

Dr. Manjeet Singh, Chief Secretary of Swayat Shasan Vibhag said that to promote tourism and environment with health, this initiative has been proposed. In the coming 8-10 days, tender will be passed for the interested companies. Also, proper places will be provided by the department and the local bodies for the project to develop.

The tourists will be provided with cycles worth Rs. 8000-10,000 which will be geared with GPS to avoid being misled and procure proper safety while touring. The rent of the bicycles will be declared by the government.

Besides Udaipur, other cities that will be included in this project are Jaipur, Ajmer, Pushkar, Mandwa, Jaisalmer, Chittor, Jodhpur, Bharatpur and Bikaner. After this project gets started, tourists will be able to tour Jaipur-Ajmer, Ajmer-Pushkar on cycles.

The concept of Tourism by Cycle is presently prevalent in Ahmedabad, Goa and Bangalore.
