To save the tourists from handicraft mafia and mediators, the Udaipur administration has planned an attempt to bring all the handicraft products under one roof at reasonable prices. This initiative will be established at Fateh Sagar.

The gallery space alongside Fateh Sagar that was previously built for showcasing fish aquarium and authentic art pieces will make way for this government market. The Gallery project by NLCP (National Lake Conservation Plan) went into the box a few years ago. Hence, the government has decided to utilize this area for the handicraft market.

During his last visit to Udaipur, Dinesh MN, MD, Rajasthan Small Industries Corporation Ltd. (RAJSICO), had a conversation with the district administration regarding the same. A representative from RAJSICO also visited the city and discussed the plan with UIT. Now, a plan of action will be built and presented soon.

The handicraft market will showcase works from Mewar, Marwar, Hadoti and from different regions of Rajasthan. The aim for opening the market is to provide quality products at best prices. Also, this gallery would attract tourists to Fateh Sagar lake.

UIT has already started the finishing works in the gallery, where the government market is proposed.
