Hariyali Amavas Mela: Stalls available in ‘Black’?

The traders who are coming to Udaipur from nearby districts, cities and villages enjoy the business in the two day fair of Hariyali Amavas from last many decades but recently things have changed.

According to the allegations made by traders, there is a big misappropriation in allotment of stalls done by Udaipur Municipal Corporation. The corporation who gives the stalls for Rs.1500 is resold by the traders for 6-7 thousand rupees.

Although UMC officials have refused having knowledge of any such misconduct but the traders from outside Udaipur claim that local traders get the stalls and they re-sell it on high rates.

The two day fair consists of amusement rides, food stalls, garments, toys and gift items which bring revenue in lacs of rupees to the local civic authority and also to the traders who come from different places.
