High Court slams Udaipur Administration on cleanliness

High Court today expressed concern and anger over the lack of cleanliness in Udaipur and ordered the local administration to present a progress report at the next hearing.

Bench of Justice Govind Mathur and Justice Vineet Mathur took up the Public Interest Litigation in the matter today. Nyay Mitra Sanjay Purohit said that there is a huge pile of waste near Kumharia Talab, Rangsagar and Fateh Sagar lakes. Infact there is also a large amount of plastic bags around the area. In response Government AAG Rajesh Panwar said that local administration is taking steps to improve the cleanliness situation.

Having heard the arguments, the High Court bench expressed anger and said that Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is not only to be spoken about but it is to be practiced in action. The bench said that cleanliness drive was only cosmetic and strict actions were not taken on ground. Rapping the local administration on knuckles, High Court asked them to present a progress report in the matter at the next hearing on 8-Aug.
