Rajasthan High Court, Jodhpur has given orders to remove the illegal encroachments done by Gram Panchayat Sarpanch and her husband along with other family members, on the empty residential quarters of the forest department in villages Sarada and Tokar near Udaipur.
The action has been recommended subsequent to a public interest litigation filed by Anju Devi and others, where they mentioned that the accused had encroached upon the empty quarters of the forest department and commissioned illegal construction on government property. Bench comprising of High Court Judge Pradeep Nandrajog and Justice Ramchandra Singh Jhala declared that the encroachments from the residential quarters and illegal construction on the nearing roads need to be removed within 6 months, failing which the area SDM will be held responsible.
Petitioners Anju Devi, Ratanlal, Kamla, Walchand and Kuridaar of Tokar village were represented by Advocate Anita Gahlot, who held that Sharda, Sarpanch of Gram Panchayat Tokar and her husband Bhagwandaas alongwith Gattu Salvi, demolished the forest department quarters and constructed new houses, thereby removing all signs of the forest department quarters.
