In a decisive move, the Udaipur Municipal Corporation has initiated the removal of illegal hoardings in the first phase of its cleanup drive. The focus of this phase was Delhi Gate, where unauthorized hoardings were successfully taken down on Thursday, February 22, 2024.
Municipal Commissioner Ram Prakash emphasized the prevalence of illegal hoardings across various locations in the city and vowed to address the issue promptly. Acting under Section 2010 of the Municipal Corporation Advertising Regulations, the Commissioner aims to tackle the problem at its roots.
To execute this task, Revenue Officer Neetish Bhatnagar has been entrusted with the responsibility. Arvind Jarauli, chairman of the Municipal Corporation's Revenue Committee, assured that the removal action, which commenced on Thursday, will persist until all unauthorized hoardings are eliminated from the cityscape.
However, amidst the cleanup efforts, a voice of discontent has surfaced. Businessman S.P. Mehta alleges that the Municipal Corporation removed the signboard of his shop without any prior notice. Mehta asserts that the signboard had adorned the wall for the past 15 years, questioning how it could be deemed illegal.
The Municipal Corporation's crackdown on illegal hoardings is part of its broader initiative to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the city and maintain order in advertising practices. The coming days will witness continued efforts to dismantle unauthorized displays across various city locations.
