Inauguration of Rs 12 Cr Project to Strengthen Pushkar Connectivity

UdaipurTimes, Sept 28, 2026 -Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani laid the foundation stone on Sunday, September 27, for a new and improved alternative Ajmer-Pushkar route - from Varun Sagar Lucky Chauraha to Kharekhari - which will be constructed at a cost of Rs 12 crore. People travelling to Pushkar will now be able to use this route along with the existing route through the valley. The widening of the road from Chamunda Chauraha to Varun Sagar and from Kharekhari to Savitri Temple has already been approved. Once these works are completed, they will constitute an important step towards the development of the Ring road.

Speaker Devnani inaugurated the construction, strengthening and widening works of the Varun Sagar–Kharekhari–Pushkar Road and the Varun Sagar–Ajmer Road.

Once the road works from Chamunda Chauraha to the Varun Sagar gate, from Varun Sagar through Lucky Chauraha to Kharekhari, and finally from Kharekhari to Savitri Mata are completed, residents will have a new and improved alternative route to travel to and from Pushkar.

He said that road-widening work from the Anasagar Police Outpost to Chamunda Chauraha would also be started. This road would be included among Ajmer's model roads and would serve as an important link in the development of Ajmer's Ring road.

The Speaker also informed that a leopard safari project worth Rs 18 crore is under construction nearby in Kajipura. The main entrance, ticket window and track have already been completed. Leopards are expected to be visible to visitors by the end of December. A safety wall along Varun Sagar and a road from Varun Sagar to Chamunda Chauraha will also be constructed soon at a cost of Rs 7 crore.
