Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot announced a Rs 215 Crore during the post budget discussion session at Rajasthan Vidhan Sabha on Thursday, 27 Februrary.  Rs 30 Crore will be provisioned for the financial year 2020-21.

The announcement came on the backdrop of a comment made by the leader of the opposition, Gulab Chand Kataria, who said that Udaipur has been given a raw deal under development programs.

An intake well will be constructed at Jaisamand under this project. This well will connect to Udaipur via a 55km 900/600 mm MS/DI pipeline.  Due to the availability of excess waters in Jaisamand, the task of channeling this excess to Udaipur will be made feasible.

Dharmnarayan Joshi, MLA from Mavli, also raised questions on the empty teaching and non teaching vacancies in MLSU and MPUAT. He enquired on the intentions of the state government towards filling these vacancies.  The government responded that of the 235 vacancies in MLSU, 63 are for faculty positions, while the balance 172 are for non teaching positions.  No concrete timeline was announced to fill these vacancies.  MPUAT has an unfillled surplus of 839, of which 319 are teaching positions.
