Lake lovers have finally a reason to smile for. They heaved a sigh of relief when charge sheet was issued against the accused in case of hotel construction in river bed.

Five engineering officers of the Water Resource Department were issued charge sheet regarding construction of hotel in Udaisagar Lake. Vardha Group wanted to construct a hotel in Udaisagar Lake which was opposed by Lake Lovers. Joint Secretary of Lake Conservation Committee Dr. Anil Mehta said, “This charge sheet is a lesson for others. Now no one will dare to disturb the existence of lakes”. Tej Shankar Paliwal of Lake Development Authority said that had this step been taken earlier and had the government been strict, the construction of hotel would not have started in Udaisagar Lake.

On the other hand, there was a lot of word going on regarding this strict action after the issuance of charge sheet. It was heard that no officer would now dare to endorse the construction of hotels in any lake bed or river bed or any other area of water flow.

Hotel construction in the middle of water bodies disturbs the flow of water. It also pollutes water to a great extent. Since the lakes are the source of drinking water, no one should be allowed to construct hotels in lakes any more.
