Udaipur Municipal Corporation will revisit the 2015 bylaws related to hotels and restaurants including bakeries, sweet shops, street vendors, etc.
In a decision taken at the health committe meeting of UMC on 16 November, local ward corporators have also been made accountable for the cleanliness ranking of their wards – a step towards smart city monitoring. Members of the health committee raised concerns on the misconceptions related to processes in the existing byelaws, causing obstructions in releasing permits. Members feel that there are many contradictions, which is causing problems in issuing permit letters, specially in the walled city areas.
On getting consensus from the members, Mayor Chandra Singh Kothari and health committee chairperson Om Chittora decided that the committee will review the 2015 byelaws once again.
Members also discussed the upcoming cleanliness index survey that will begin in January next year and tasked the local ward corporators with responsibility and answerability towards their wards and addressing issues to reach quick resolutions as far as cleanliness was concerned.
