Local transport of Udaipur set to get “Smarter” by December
Udaipur is set to get 27 new city buses. Of these 27, 10 will be AC buses whereas 17 will be non-ac buses. 8 old buses will also be repaired and renovated. City will also have 100 new bus-stops coming up. Out of these 100, 80 bus stops will be normal whereas 20 bus stops will have special facilities including toilets.
Udaipur Municipal Corporation is set to make the local transport of Udaipur much smarter under the Smart City campaign. Towards that UMC has floated two tenders of Rs 20.54 Crores and Rs 10.15 Crores.

Like metro trains, smart bus service will provide location of each bus and the expected time of arrival at different bus stops. Arun Vyas, Additional Chief Engineer of UMC said that as part of online system, the buses and bus stops will be connected via apps. Udaipur citizens will be able to connect to the app and get information about the running of different buses and about when can they expect the next bus at their stop.
UMC Commissioner Siddharth Sihag said that route maps of the buses have been planned and locations for bus stops also identified. The buses have been proposed on the following routes
If all goes as per plan, the buses will start operations from December end. Once the AC buses start in Udaipur, they will be the first such facility in Rajasthan. Local transport depot will come up in Savina and will come up in space of 1 acre belonging to UMC
