People from areas near Madri do not need to cross the highway any longer to connect to Udaipur city. They are now directly linked to the city via the underpass. Areas of Lakadwas, Kaladwas, Kanpur, Madri, RIICO Industrial area and Matoon have an easy access to Udaipur city because of Madri underpass. This underpass is sure to bring down accident rates and traffic jams.
The underpass is 4 ½ metres high. It is 4 metres wide on both sides. The running length of the underpass is 220 metres. Central half under the highway is 30 metres. Apart from this, a budget of 6.46 crore rupees has been decided for Eklingpura underpass. 13.62 crores will be spent on widening the 11 and half kilometre long bypass from Pratap Nagar to Baleecha. It will be widened to 15 feet.
Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria said that a budget of 5000 crore rupees has been sanctioned for the development of the city under various projects of State and Central government. UDH Minister Srichand Kriplani was also present on this occasion. The others present were Former MLA Bhanu Kumar Shastri, Udaipur Rural representative Phool Singh Meena, UIT Chairman Ravindra Shrimali, Mayor Chandra Singh Kothari and UIT Secretary Ram Niwas Mehta. As per Devilal Palowal, a news paper distributor, this underpass was much in demand by the natives of these areas since a long time.
Madri underpass is sure to ease traffic troubles in nearby areas. People can now breathe peacefully since traffic jams and accidents will see a downfall. Lesser traffic will mean less pollution making it easier for the people to breathe. Travel time will also be cut short because of this underpass.
