Mahapadav (Mega protest of farmers) begins today

Kisan Andolan is now setting its pace in Rajasthan. The protest is being carried out by Farmer’s Union of various cities.

Farmers of Rajasthan are now gathering for a mega protest after Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. 8 cities are in for the Mahapadav. Protesting farmers are from Jaipur, Sikar, Udaipur, Kota, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Bharatpur and Ajmer. Though it has been said that it is going to be a peaceful protest, yet the Union has declared that if any one apart from the union tries to create any disturbance, then the Union will not take the responsibility of the consequences.

The protest will continue till the government gives a written assurance for tacking the demands of the farmers, said Manilal Labana, President of Farmer’s Union. Rajasthan government has cancelled all leaves of Collectors and other officers and police have been asked to stay alert to handle the situations as per need.

250 police officers and 1300 jawans have been appointed to stay alert.

The farmers collected in Jodhpur right outside Collector’s office with bag and baggage and food as well. An infinite protest regarding the right price for crops, electricity connections and waiving off loans including some more demands are on the agenda. Manilal Labana said that news of State government buying one lakh quintal of garlic is completely fake. Farmer’s Union will not accept the formula of “शहर आबाद, गाँव बर्बाद”.

The protest will also have the participation of SFI(Student Federation of India). SFI head Sunil Punia said that all the students of the federation will support the farmers and be a part of their protest.

On the first day of the protest, farmers were served dal, bati and churma. The food supplies were collected from various houses of farmers and all the fuel and cooking arrangement material has reached the Mahapadav venue i.e. outside Collector’s office.

To keep a close watch on the protesting farmers, special cameramen have been called from Jaipur for mono-patrolling and video-patrolling. Police are also moving around on horses to keep an eye on the scene. An additional police force has also been appointed.
