Major Action by GST Dept Over Tax Irregularities
Action taken against four establishments; taxpayers voluntarily deposit and reverse an amount exceeding Rs 1.16 crore
August 29, 2026 - To ensure compliance with GST regulations in Rajasthan and effectively curb tax evasion and wrongful availment of Input Tax Credit (ITC), the Commercial Taxes Department has been continuously intensifying survey and inspection activities. As part of this drive, departmental officials conducted actions at various establishments in the State such as in Jaipur, Barmer and Kishangarh, where significant GST-related irregularities were detected.
As per a government press release, tax irregularities were found at four establishments - two in Jaipur and one each in Barmer and Kishangarh. Action was taken over tax and ITC-related irregularities amounting to approximately Rs 1.40 crore. During the proceedings, the concerned taxpayers voluntarily deposited and reversed an amount exceeding Rs 1.16 crore.
The Commercial Taxes Department is continuously examining cases involving suspicious transactions and ITC based on return analysis and field intelligence. As per the government, the department's objective is to ensure the actual tax liability while taking effective action against wrongful availment of ITC, concealment of tax liabilities and violations of GST provisions.
Officials have clarified that further action is being taken in accordance with the rules for each irregularity identified during the investigation.
