Team from UIT carried out a major anti-encroachment drive taking down 225 houses in the Baba Magri area situated at Badgaon. Baba Magri is situated right opposite Pratap Gaurav Kendra.

Houses without permission were built in this area over last quite a few years. UIT had issued notice to house owners multiple times for vacating the area. The requests however fell on deaf ears and UIT finally carried out a major demolition drive on Tuesday taking down 225 huts and cleaning up the area.

As per reports, the houses were constructed illegally with support from local political leaders. As a precautionary measure, UIT took support from 200 odd policemen while carrying out the demolition.

UIT will provide 325 sqt ft plots below the hill to all the displaced families. UIT will also work towards improving the beauty of Baba Magri by planting trees in the area. Given that this area falls right opposite Pratap Gaurav Kendra, removing the encroachments will also add aesthetic value to the visitors
