Malaysia expresses interest in redeveloping Udaipur railway station

Nine countries including China, Singapore, Canada, Belgium, South Korea, Germany, UK, France and Malaysia have expressed interest in partnering with Indian railways for its ambitious station redevelopment programme across India.

Nine countries including China, Singapore, Canada, Belgium, South Korea, Germany, UK, France and Malaysia have expressed interest in partnering with Indian railways for its ambitious station redevelopment programme across India.

Of these, Malaysia has expressed interest in developing railway station of Udaipur along with cities of Howrah, Secunderabad, Faridabad, Indore and Pune. As part of the redevelopment, developer would rebuild the railway stations and maintaining it for 15 years. In return the developer would get 45 years leasing righgt for commercial properties developed at the stations.

The entire cost of station redevelopment will have to be met by leveraging commercial development of the vacant space in and around the station.

As part of the redevelopment process, there would be hotels, malls, multiplex, eateries, parking lots and other business activities on rail premises. Along with this the passenger-related facilities at stations would also be upgraded.
