Sept 8, 2026 - Rajasthan government has mandated paid leave for all eligible voters on polling day of the upcoming general elections to urban local bodies in the State scheduled for September 9 and 11. This government directive has been issued under Section 135(b) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 and applies to every eligible voter employed in any business, profession, industrial undertaking or other establishment.
Paid leave will be applicable on whichever is the polling date in a particular area, according to Divisional Joint Labour Commissioner Pragya Sharma. Failure to be granted paid leave could result in appropriate penal action if the matter is taken up with the concerned Returning Officer or District Election Officer.
