Mansi Wakal gates opened

2 out of 3 gates of Mansi Wakal dam were opened today at around 12 noon. The gates were opened in preparation for the pre-monsoon and subsequent monsoon rains.

PHED officials informed the villages falling in the water catchment area about the release of water. 2 out of 3 gates were opened while the third gate could not be opened as its rope was broken. The gates were kept open for about 5 minutes.

Every year before monsoon, gates are opened to check whether they open up properly and also whether there are any blockages along the way or any areas needing repair.
