The city over the last few days had been a witness to very strong reactions from environmentalists over the proposed project of setting up of Amusement Park at Gulab Bagh. Rajni Dangi, Mayor-Udaipur, today issued clarifications on the same.
It may be noted that UMC had amongst its list of various developmental and renovation projects, a project targeted towards setting up an amusement park at Gulab Bagh.
This proposal brought about strong reactions from environmentalist in the city. Soon after the announcement of project, a number of environmentalists from city started protesting against project and had also created a community on Facebook (Save GulabBagh).
The primary concern of this section was that project will affect the eco-system of this 136 years old garden and might also adversely affect some of the rarest species of plants and trees, that the garden houses.
According to Rajni Dangi, proposed project plan has taken into consideration issues related to environment and heritage of the garden. She said that all facilities developed would be noise-less. The proposed park would more or less be an activity park, in which small rides (non-electrical) will be installed.
Dangi further added that Corporation is well aware of historical and environmental importance of GulabBagh and gave assurance that absolutely no harm would be caused to the flora or fauna that the garden stands a house to.
