In a board meeting organised at Udaipur Municipal Corporation (UMC), Mayor had to face serious objections from members of both opposition and ruling party corporators on reshuffling of sub-committees heads and members working within the corporation.
After discussion on various development projects of city, Mayor Rajni Dangi announced names of sub-committee heads post the reshuffle. Soon after the announcement, around 12 corporators of ruling party (BJP) complaint about improper allocation citing bias.
Even after the discontent shown by around 29 corporators, Rajni Dangi gave consent to the restructuring and added 3 sub-committees. This however is not allowed as per the governing rules since majority was against the decision. Total attendance of the board meeting was of 54 corporators out of which 29 were not in favour of the decision.
In the protest, unhappy corporators demanded a voting for the approval. The voting was however declined by the Mayor and this turned into a bitter quarrel. Agitated corporators decided to resign from party and gave a written application to District Collector to look into the matter.
In another development in the board meeting, opposition party corporators alleged a sub-committee head, Kiran Jain, for indulging in corruption and demanded investigation into the same.
