Currently, the road is 5.5 meters wide, which will be extended to 7 meters with an additional 1.5 meter paver soldier strip on either side of the highway. The villages that are settled along the route will get 10 meter cemented roads constructed as a part of the project

Rs. 240 Crore Mega highway project on the Udaipur Salumber route has finally seen the light of the day. Over the last few years, efforts have been made to introduce robust road transportation the Udaipur Banswara route, which passes through Jaisamand and Salumber. The project will be developed under the Mega Highway model, said RC Balai, Project Director at Rajasthan State Road Development Corporation (RSRDC), which has been given the responsibility of completing this project.

While Tenders for the second phase of the project will be floated soon, as soon as the foundation is laid on 10th January, the project will pick up speed. The project will be completed in two stages and the contractor will enter into a Build Operate Transfer (BOT) model for toll collection. In the first phase of the project, the forest area around Kewde ki Naal will not be touched. The first phase of the project, amounting to Rs. 144 Crore has been awarded to Ravi Infrastructure.

To augment the approximately 7km forest ruote along Kewde ki Naal in the second phase, a proposal has been send to the Central Forest Office in Lucknow. In the second phase, the department has proposed that the Forest department will be given equivalent land elsewhere.  With recurrent accidents on the route being a cause for concern over the last many years, Salumber MLA Amritlal Meena said that this project approval is an outcome of his continuous efforts to get the route developed to augure safer transportation.
