The passengers of the New Delhi bound Mewar Express, left Udaipur on its scheduled time 6:15pm on 6th August is still 300 kms. short of reaching its destination.

Last nights rains in Bundi resulted in the tracks getting dismantled as the soil beneath the tracks that holds the rails fast to the ground, was washed off in the heavy flow of water.

This resulted in the train journeying back to Chittor. The train usually reaches Chittor at 8:30pm but this time the passengers who were asleep at night came in for a shock. When they woke up at 4am to get off at Mathura they found themselves at Chittor.

The train was diverted onto Jaipur and there on took the route to Mathura. Once again the passengers were dissapointed when the train stopped 80 kms. from Mathura.

A few mischief mongers had removed approximately 150 locks (Fish Plates) from the rails. These locks hold the rails to their wooden planks. The train again halted for 1 hour, while the railway personnel quickly reinstated the locks.

In both the cases, it was the observation by the track checkers stationed at frequent distances that saved the train from derailing at both locations and averted a major accident.

We are reporting live as per the information provided by one of the passengers.
