MP Rawat Seeks Paved Roads to Rural Railway Stations
Using Rule 377 of Parliamentary Procedures, Dr Rawat brought this matter to the notice of the Parliament
Udaipur, Dec 13, 2025 - Member of Parliament (MP) Dr Manna Lal Rawat has raised the demand in Parliament for constructing permanent paved roads connecting nearby villages and towns to railway stations across the country to ensure easy access for passengers.
Using Rule 377 of Parliamentary Procedures, Dr Rawat brought this matter to the notice of the Parliament. He informed that many approach roads to railway stations in rural regions were not paved causing hardships to residents in reaching the stations, particularly in night-time.
He further said that in the Udaipur Lok Sabha constituency railway stations such as Rishabhdev Road, Padla and Semari do not have paved road connectivity to nearby villages, causing inconvenience to passengers, especially senior citizens, women and young children. Since this issue affects a large number of people, it requires urgent attention.
MP Dr Rawat urged the Union Railway Ministry to prepare a plan to construct paved roads and provide protection from monsoon-related obstacles at such rural railway stations. He suggested that this may be included as a component in the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in coordination with the Ministry of Rural Development.
Rule 377 in the Indian Parliament (Lok Sabha) allows MPs to raise urgent matters of public importance that cannot be addressed through Question Hour, Calling Attention or other regular procedures. Under this rule, individual MPs are allowed, with the Speaker's consent, to bring issues like new schools, infrastructure needs or policy problems to the government's notice.
