New S.P takes charge

Mahesh Kumar Goyal took charge as Superintendent of Police (S.P) of Udaipur district here on Monday. It may be noted that transfers of several IPS and IAS officers across the state were announced a few days back.

Goyal, a 2001 Batch IPS officer has been serving the department since last 32 years and has in past served as S.P of Chittorgarh, Alwar, Jodhpur and Jaipur.

The new Superintendent of Police will focus on proactive policing and claims to showcase a reduction in crime rate over the next 15 days. A native of Ganganagar, Goyal says that his priority is to first study the background of the district and then accordingly frame strategies for implementation.

S.P has informed that he will call a joint meeting of all the subordinates to learn all the ins and outs of the city. Mahesh Kumar Goyal, did not elaborate a lot on his plans but evinced confidence in controlling law and order situation. Incidentally, of late, the city of lakes has been in grip of chain snatchers and illegal arm dealers and this presents an immediate challenge for the new S.P.

On the other hand, outgoing S.P of the city, Hariprasad Sharma will leave the city in next 2-3 days. In a small interview with UdaipurTimes.com, Sharma said that he had a great time in Udaipur and will always remember the kindness of local residents.
