NHAI will construct the Elevated Road from Udiapol to Delhi Gate

Proposed elevated over-bridge on the Udiapol-Surajpol-Delhi Gate-Court Chauraha route has been approved by the State Government and the project has been handed over to the National Highway Authority of India.

The total cost of the project is estimated to be Rs. 136 Crore, the budget for which has been passed by the authorities, looking at the increasing traffic problems in the city.  The over-bridge will connect Udaipol to Court Chauraha directly, bypassing Surajpol and Delhi Gate, thus easing the traffic congestion in that area.

Earlier, the businessmen operating in the affected locations had objected to the construction, suggesting that the over-bridge will affect their day to day business activities.  However, the local authorities have got the design, length, span, etc approved through a DPR with an Ahmedabad based project consultant.

Once the over-bridge is in place, traffic originating from Sector 11 Hiran Magri, Patel Circle, City Station, etc and going directly to Ashok Nagar, Panchvati, Bhupal Pura, Chetak and beyond towards Fatehpura and Nathdwara, will avoid the now congested areas of Surajpol, Delhi Gate, Collectorate Road, Court Chauraha, etc. hence easing traffic in these areas too.  Heavier vehicles will not longer ply near Delhi Gate or Surajpol, unless they are specific to the area.
