Udaipur, May 27, 2025 – During the monsoon season, several areas of the city experience waterlogging, primarily owing to the clogging of small and large drains. Every year, residents of the city face various problems because of water logging. This year, a comprehensive campaign has been launched by Udaipur Nagar Nigam Commissioner Ram Prakash to be ready for the monsoon by having choked drains cleaned. The Commissioner is personally conducting daily review meetings to monitor the progress.
Strict instructions have been given to Health Officer Satyanarayan Sharma and Executive Engineer (Mechanical) Lakhan Lal Berwa. Under all circumstances, every drain in the city must be cleaned before the onset of the monsoon, according to the Commissioner.
The Commissioner said that waterlogging is mainly caused by blocked drains. Garbage accumulation or pre-existing obstructions lead to water collecting on the roads, making it difficult for residents to drive or walk. However, the Nagar Nigam is making every effort to minimise the possibility of waterlogging this year.
Daily review meetings are being conducted regarding this. In these meetings, the Commissioner obtains updates from officials and staff of the Health and Garage departments about which drains have been cleaned. Additionally, arrangements have been made to ensure that the waste removed from the cleaned drains is collected and disposed of daily.
