Tourism Initiatives: Night Food Court to Come Up at Rani Road Chowpatty in Udaipur

Udaipur, Aug 23, 2025: The Chowpatty area of Rani Road on the banks of Udaipur's famous Fatehsagar Lake will soon be home to Udaipur's first Night Food Court, if the deliberations of the administration is anything to go by.

As per updates from the district administration, the District Collector met the key stake holders in order to make plans for the upcoming tourist season. Udaipur is home to lakhs of tourists during the post monsoon and winter months and each year the city sees an influx from domestic as well as international routes. During one such discussion on Friday, August 22 at the Collectorate it was agreed that the Chowpatty area on Rani Road is the most suitable spot for the Night Food Court. The Collector suggested that kiosks can be erected in the food court area and adequate steps be taken to ensure that the most sought after food items and snacks from reputed establishments in Udaipur be made available at the Night Food Court so that tourists do not have to wander across town to search for such delicacies.

Adequate Lighting

The Collector also ordered that adequate lighting be provided for in major public places and at all the historic gates, viz. Surajpol, Hathipol, Chand Pol, Kishenpo, Udiapol, Brahmpol, etc as well as on all the bridges built across the various lakes and also on heritage buildings of the city, Fatehsagar Lake, Dudh Talai, Pichhola, etc.

Night Shopping Zone

The members also discussed that the market area from Badi Pol till Jadish Chowk can be a designated Night Shopping Zone. The Collector asked for the necessary feasibility checks and then prepare an action plan if warranted. Uniform signage, increasing timings for tourist spots such as Saheliyon ki Badi, dealing with traffic jams at the current Chowpatty on the banks of Fatehsagar, etc were also deibverated upon.
