Night Patrol by Nagar Nigam to Shift Homeless to Shelters
Under initiative of Nagar Nigam Commissioner Abhishek Khanna, teams will patrol at night to move people sleeping on streets to permanent shelter homes
Udaipur, Dec 6, 2025 - In view of the falling temperatures in the city, the Udaipur Nagar Nigam has taken steps to provide relief to homeless and destitute people. On the unique initiative of Nagar Nigam Commissioner Abhishek Khanna, Nigam officials have started night patrols. Under this drive, people sleeping on footpaths, bus stands, roads and open spaces will be shifted to safe shelter homes.
The Nigam is operating seven permanent shelter homes in the city under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM). These shelters are located in Chetak Circle, Udiapole Sector Office, Pratap Nagar, Mallatalai, Aawari Mata Kachchi Basti and Goverdhan Vilas areas.
A special patrolling team has been formed to bring the homeless in the city to these shelters. The Commissioner has instructed officials of all departments to conduct night patrols in rotation and carry out surprise inspections of the shelters.
