NLCP is now National Plan for Conservation of Aquatic Eco System (NPCAES)

National Lake Conservation Director, Dr. R. Dalwani, informed in the International level Meeting held at Mumbai a week back that National lake Conservation Project (NLCP) has been changed and it is being known now as National Plan for Conservation of Aquatic Eco System.

National Lake Conservation Director, Dr. R. Dalwani, informed in the International level Meeting held at Mumbai a week ago that the National lake Conservation Project (NLCP) has been re-christened as National Plan for Conservation of Aquatic Eco System (NPCAES).

In this meeting, the International Lake Environment committee foundation President Dr. Masahisa Nakamura of Japan; Dr. Walter Rust of Texas University U.S.A.; Niri Nagpur; Director, Dr. Rakesh Kumar; Chilka Lake Development Authority Director, Dr. Ajeet Patnayak; Ex- Director of Environment Ministry, Dr. I. V. Mule, Dr. Tej Rajdan of Lake Conservation Committee and Principal of Polytechnic Collage, Vidya Bhawan, Anil Mehta from Udaipur attended the conference.

Dr. Dalwani, stressed that adequate sanitization and sewerage resolution has not been executed properly.

The Lake Development Authority Draft was discussed in the meeting.  A decision was taken on demolition of illegal construction in the water flow area.  Lake cleaning responsibility was placed on Udaipur Municipal Council.

I.A Durga, former Director of Department of Fisheries suggested fish farming of specific breed of fish, to improve the ecosystem of lakes.  More importantly, people must be educated to refrain from polluting the lakes and if need be, warned.
