There will not be any more fishing contracts for Fatehsagar and Pichola. This was decided in a meeting of Lake Development Authority.

Fishing contracts ending on 31st March will not be renewed for Fatehsagar and Pichola Lakes. In a meeting which was presided by Collector Mallick, there were a number of things on the agenda. One of them was putting an end to fishing contracts for Lake Pichola and Fatehsagar. Apart from fishing, issues of sewerage falling into the lakes, weeds thrown back into lakes and issues of garbage thrown into lakes were discussed.

As per the meeting, there will be no more fishing allowed in Fatehsagar and Pichola. Relevant departments will be sent notifications on this soon. Weeds that are taken out of the lakes should not be thrown back near the lakes as they to go back in the water. As suggested by Tej Shankar Paliwal, these weeds must be used for compost manure. Also weed fish must be cultivated in the lakes so that weed in the lakes can be controlled.

It was also pointed out that a drain from Army area at Sisarma-Dudh Talai road is falling into Pichola. Municipal Corporation has been directed to take action against this.
